BKS overall volatility flat at 45 into EPS

Barnes & Noble (BKS) is recently up 16 cents to $22.46.

The company is expected to report Q2 EPS on Nov. 24.

BKS announced customers who ordered its Nook electronic-book reader won't receive it until the week of Jan. 4.

BKS overall option implied volatility of 45 is below its six month average of 48, according to Track Data, suggesting non-directional price movement.


HPQ volatility low into EPS and outlook

Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) is recently up 84 cents to $50.88.

The company is expected to report Q4 EPS today after market close.

Kaufman Bros. reiterated its "buy" rating and price target of $57 on HPQ.

Kaufman said, "Anticipate results consistent with positive pre-announcement."

HPQ December option implied volatility is at 26, and January is at 27, below its six-month average of 32, according to Track Data, suggesting decreasing price movement.
