PARD option volume and prices elevated into data

Poniard Pharmaceuticals (PARD), a biopharmaceutical company focused on development of oncology products, is recently up 21 cents to $7.30.

Its Phase III SPEAR (Study of Picoplatin Efficacy After Relapse) study in small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) on picoplatin is expected by year-end 2009. The study was designed to evaluate picoplatin versus the best supportive care for the treatment of platinum resistant/refractory SCLC.

PARD November 7.5 straddle is priced at $3.15, and December priced is at $5.95.

PARD November option implied volatility is at 272, December is at 296, and March is at 198, according to Track Data.


XLF volatility flat at 42

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) is recently up 19 cents to $14.13.

The top holdings in the fund are JPM, WFC, BAC, GS, USB, C, MET, TRV and AXP.

XLF November option implied volatility is at 42, and December is at 41, versus its six-month average of 42, according to Track Data, suggesting non-directional price movement.
