CREE volume and volatility increases as shares sell off 7% into earnings

Cree (CREE) is recently down $4.12 to $53.76.

The company is expected to announce Q2 EPS on Jan. 19.

CREE call option volume of 7,183 contracts compares to put volume of 6,032 contracts.

CREE February option implied volatility is at 55, above its 26-week average of 44, according to Track Data, suggesting traders taking positions for larger price movement.


YHOO volatility low into earnings and revenue outlook

Yahoo (YHOO) is recently down 31 cents to $16.81.

The company is expected to report Q4 EPS on Jan. 26.

Jefferies & Co. said Google and Bing gain more share of search, Yahoo disappoints."

YHOO February option implied volatility is at 32, and April is at 29, below its six-month average of 40, according to Track Data, suggesting decreasing price movement.
