GS February put volatility at 33 into earnings

Goldman Sachs (GS) closed yesterday at $167.82.

The company is expected to report Q4 EPS on Jan. 21.

The Public Hearings of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission is expected to call Goldman's Lloyd Blankfein, JPMorgan Chase's (JPM) Jamie Dimon, Morgan Stanley's (MS) John Mack and Bank of America's (BAC) Brian Moynihan to testify.

GS February put option implied volatility is at 34, and April is at 33, versus its six-month average of 36, according to Track Data, suggesting non-directional price movement.


MSFT volatility increases as shares trend higher into earnings and outlook

Microsoft (MSFT) is recently up 11 cents to $30.18 in pre-market trading.

The company is expected to report Q2 EPS on Jan. 28.

MSFT February option implied volatility is at 32, and March is at 31, versus its six-month average of 28, according to Track Data, suggesting larger price movement.
