07/21/09TXN volatility decreases as shares sell off after outlook
Texas Instruments (TXN) is recently down 88 cents to $22.74.
TXN reported Q2 orders increased 27% sequentially, resulting in a book-to-bill of 1.14, up from 1.05 last quarter.
Stifel Nicolaus (SF) says "Broadening improvement drives all major segments; raising target price to $28."
TXN call option volume of 24,233 contracts compares to put volume of 12,390 contracts.
TXN August option implied volatility is at 32, below a level of 40 from July 20, and below its 26-week average of 43, according to Track Data, suggesting decreasing price movement.
VXN update
The CBOE Nasdaq Volatility Index (VXN) is up 41 cents to 25.21.
VXN 10-day moving average is 26.73.
QQQQ update
PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQQ) overall implied volatility at 25; 26-week average is 32.
