Implied Volatility Alert: UAUA, PARD

UAUA volatility of 95 near 16-month lows

UAL Corp. (UAUA) is recently up 27 cents to $9.10 in pre-market trading.

UBS raised its rating on UAUA to "buy" from "neutral."

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures are recently up .56% to $66.26 a barrel, according to Bloomberg.

UAUA overall option implied volatility of 95 is below its six-month average of 116, according to Track Data, suggesting decreasing price movement.


PARD December volatility elevated into data

Poniard Pharmaceuticals (PARD), a biopharmaceutical company focused on development of oncology products, closed yesterday at $7.13.

Its Phase III SPEAR trial evaluating the company's picoplatin as a second-line treatment for small cell lung cancer is expected by year-end 2009.

PARD October option implied volatility is at 129, November is at 219, and December is at 224, versus its six-month average of 138, according to Track Data, suggesting larger end -of-the-year price movement.
