Father's Day Trade #1: Honda Motor Co. (HMC)
By Nick Atkeson and Andrew Houghton
Dad has duties, even on Father's Day. They include being smart about finances, keeping the grass cut and coming up with ideas for fun, family activities. One company provides for all of those needs: Honda Motor Co. (HMC).
Honda just launched the Insight hybrid that gets 41 miles to the gallon with a starting price of $19,800. For dad, on top of saving lots of money, the car comes equipped with eight beverage holders. Honda also sells lawnmowers, and dad knows that if he spends too much time on the couch, there will be repercussions. When he's ordered into the yard to mow the lawn, Honda will make sure he's prepared. And, finally, Honda sells motorcycles, ATVs, snowblowers, trimmers, multi-purpose utility vehicles, personal watercrafts, scooters, etc. They are dad's one-stop family fun shop.
The stock is up about 30% year-to-date. Much of the reason for this appreciation is that the company is dedicated to making affordable, high-quality products with a view toward the future.
