Father's Day Trade #4: Boston Beer Company (SAM)
By Chris Johnson and Jon Lewis
Nothing goes better with dad and hot weather than a frosty bottle of suds. Beverage companies tend to do well in recessions anyway, but warm weather doesn't hurt. One company we like is Boston Beer Company (SAM), maker of Samuel Adams beer.
It's a smaller company that tends to fly under the radar of most analysts, and those who do follow the stock are less than enthused. Analyst ratings are lukewarm, options players have been ratcheting up the put volume, and short interest is high. All these signs of skepticism mean that plenty of sideline cash is available to flow into the stock. The shares are in the midst of a pullback, making now a perfect time to tap SAM before the crowd gets a thirst for the stock.
